Well, we had to cancel our fun plans for today after a long evening, which included a trip to the emergency room. Payton was acting normal all day yesterday despite a 102 fever. It wasn't until the evening that he started to look "sick" and didn't want to do anything. I had been doing Tylenol and Motrin every 3hrs (alternating) and had given him the Tylenol just before bed. He just couldn't sleep and was moaning, tossing and turning, and crying. So after 3hrs of that, it was time for the good stuff, (Motrin) and I decided to wake him and take his temp and give him the meds in hopes that he would relax a bit and sleep. When I took his temp he was at 104.5! I think I would have been OK with this if he hadn't been breathing super fast and couldn't get comfortable. We decided to take him in since he was so burning up hot. After 2hrs, his temp went down (this was how long the Motrin took to kick in) and after the Dr. took chest x-rays and checked his ears, we went home. No pneumonia or ear infection, just the pesky old influenza!
We got spoiled this morning with Payton sleeping in til 9:30 due to the trip to the er and he is now going on 2 1/2 hrs of his nap! He still had a 102 fever this morning so hopefully by this afternoon it will break. For the second child, we learned that if it has a fever that high, wait a good hour to hour and a half for the Motrin to kick in.

Awwww poor Payton!
We hope you feel better soon!
How did he do with the x-rays and all the other stuff at the ER?
Sorry to hear about Mr. P's visit to ER, but glad his temp is dropping and he's getting some rest.
Keep us posted on his progress.
