Every year my ISU friends do a 5k race through Midwest Heart Specialists. My friend Becky organizes it since she and her Dad have been patients there for many years. This year, due to lack of sponsorship, they did not have the event. Becky's dad passed away in 2007 due to heart problems and doing the run was very special to us and celebrating her dad. So since there was no race this year Becky outdid herself by organizing a day at Arlington, one of her Dad's favorite places to go. It was the first time I had taken Payton and he had a blast! It is so inexpensive to go there, free parking, $6 for an adult online and free for kids up to 16. They also had free pony rides and a petting zoo, on top of the already exciting horse races. I didn't bet anything cause I am so not lucky but it was fun cheering on the horses and hoping my friends won some money. Becky and her Mom got there early and saved tables on the grassy area. She had blankets set up, food set out and even water and juice. We brought our lunches and just relaxed. It was a great time and I am hoping we do it again next year, as well as the race:)
